Replicants in "Blade Runner"

Replicants are artificial humanoids in the "Blade Runner" universe. They are similar to androids in other speculative and science fiction works, being created primarily for manual labor. However, replicants are bioengineered beings, meaning they are fully organic and usually indistinguishable from regular humans outside a questionable test of emotional responses. They have enhanced senses, strength, and agility, as well as equal if not greater intelligence than normal humans, though they are not expected to possess true emotion. Most replicants have a built-in lifespan of around four years, after which they shut down. Rogue replicants on Earth are hunted by Blade Runners and "retired." Such replicants are the main antagonists in the 1982 film.
